Vatican tightens controls on Rome hospital administration

The Vatican's Secretariat of State has tightened its control of the Bambino Gesu pediatric hospital in Rome.

For several years the Secretariat of State has sought to tighten financial and administrative procedures at the hospital, which was established in 1869 and donated to the Holy See in 1924. Following a thorough management review earlier this year, the Vatican instituted a new board for the hospital, reporting to the Secretariat of State.
