Immigrants' deaths a disgrace for civilization, Italian cardinal says

The president of the Italian bishops' conference has said that the continued loss of lives among immigrants trying to reach Europe "shames the world and civilization."

Cardinal Angelo Bagnasco spoke out after the bodies of 30 immigrants were discovered drifting on a capsized boat off Sicily. The cardinal called for "strong, determined, clear, incontestable, and unequivocal" action to address the problem.
