New Islamic terror attack on Kenyan village

June 17, 2014

Islamic terrorists have attacked another village in Kenya, killing at least 9 people and apparently kidnapping women and children.

After a June 15 assault on the town of Mpeketoni that left 48 people dead, the terrorists struck at nearby Majembeni, the Fides news service reports. Bishop Emanuel Barbara of Malindi told Fides that in addition to the 9 deaths, there were unconfirmed reports that hostages were taken.

The attacks on both Mpeketoni and Majembeni have been attributed to al Shabaab, the Islamic group that has sought to seize control of Somalia. The terrorist group has said that the attacks are reprisals for Kenyan military intervention in support of the fledgling Somalian government.
