Preparing for trip to Holy Land, Pope postpones visit to Italian shrine

May 15, 2014

Pope Francis has postponed a planned visit to a shrine south of Rome, in order to prepare for his trip to the Holy Land, the Vatican has announced.

The Pope was scheduled to travel to the Divino Amore sanctuary on May 18, and to visit a parish there. Father Federico Lombardi, the director of the Vatican press office, said that the short trip had been postponed in order to “lighten up” the Pontiff’s schedule in the days before his trip to the Holy Land.

The Pope’s trip to the Divino Amore shrine will be rescheduled later, the Vatican said.
