‘A modern Pope gets old school on the Devil’
May 14, 2014
The Washington Post has reported on Pope Francis’s frequent references to Satan.
“Pope Francis never stops talking about the Devil; it’s constant,” an anonymous “senior bishop in Vatican City” told the newspaper.
“Had Pope Benedict done this, the media would have clobbered him.”

Thank you, Bruno Cicconi. The CHIESA essay is heady, provocative, but clear. jg's observation about the galloping manifestation of evil is accurate; Francis is surely being led by that same Kindly Light which Newman begged to follow. So MUST we!!!

jg-commenter, I think he does. Google "Alberto Methol Ferré", a friend of the Pope, and see what he has to say of "libertine atheism" and how to deal with it.

More than anything else, this aspect of Pope Francis' ministry tells me the Holy Spirit has sent us exactly the leader we need in these times. For, what other reason than the intervention of Satan can there be for the astoundingly rapid victories of evil across the board in Europe and North America? How can we explain otherwise that what was considered absolute lunacy even a decade ago is now public policy in Washington and Brussels? Among world leaders, only Francis understands what is in play.
