An Australian bishop has dismissed a report suggesting his position could be in jeopardy because of his willingness to question Church teachings on celibacy and the impossibility of ordaining women. Bishop William Morris of Toowoomba pointed out that a pastoral letter in which he raised questions about those issues had been released more than two years ago. Bishop Morris said that the new public interest in his stance was an attempt to resurrect an old controversy.
