Arrested for solicitation, Ohio priest reveals he is HIV-positive

October 14, 2013

A Cleveland priest who is HIV-positive faces criminal charges after he was arrested for allegedly soliciting a man for sex.

Father James McGonegal was taken into custody after he reportedly exposed himself and offered to pay a man for sex. The man, who was a park ranger, promptly arrested him. In addition to charges for public indecency and soliciting sex, he could face further charges for criminal endangerment, since his HIV-positive status might threaten the life of a sexual partner.
