Italian priest calls for gay Pope

March 07, 2013

An outspoken Italian Catholic priest has called for the election of a homosexual Pope.

“A homosexual Pope would be a magnificent thing,” Father Andrea Gallo said. Father Gallo has been prominent in defense of homosexuals and in other political causes in Genoa; he once joined a protest against drug laws by smoking marijuana in city hall. He charges that the "repression" of homosexual clerics has led the way to pedophilia.

Alas, I fear you are in error, AnesDay. Far, far from only in Rome.

Why is Fr. Gallo still in ministry? The incident in the city hall alone should have been enough to dismiss him from the priesthood. Only in Rome...

Did anybody notice that Fr. Andrea let the cat out of the bag? According to him, we have pedophilia because of the problems of repressed homosexual priests. So, it follows logically: according to him the problem IS a problem with homosexuals in the priesthood.

Why would he assume there has not been a homosexual pope? Of course, what he means is that he wants a sexually active one.
