Pakistan: witnesses recant testimony supporting girl accused of blasphemy
October 02, 2012
Three witnesses whose testimony had supported Rimsha Masih, the 14-year-old Christian girl accused of burning pages of the Qur’an, have recanted.
The three had told police that they had seen a Muslim cleric ripping pages out of the Qur’an in an effort to plant evidence against Masih. A fourth witness, however, has not recanted his initial testimony to police.
