Costa Rican president meets with Pontiff

Pope Benedict XVI met on May 28 with Costa Rica’s President Laura Chinchilla Miranda, for a discussion that centered on relations between the Central American country and the Holy See. A Vatican statement released after the short visit indicated that the conversation also touched on “the importance of continuing to protect the fundamental dignity of human beings, from the moment of conception.”
