Hackers' attack on Vatican web site foiled

February 27, 2012

A determined and skillful group of computer hackers attacked the Vatican’s web site last year, but failed to penetrate the site’s security.

Last August the “Anonymous” coalition of hackers tried first to gain control of the Vatican site, and then to crash the computer server, a leading internet security firm has revealed. Both efforts failed.

Vatican officials have chosen not to comment on the incident, preferring to keep their security arrangements secret.
