Israel expected 90,000 pilgrims for Christmas

December 15, 2011

Israeli authorities are expecting 90,000 Christian pilgrims to visit the Holy Land during the Christmas season.

Israel’s tourism ministry is catering to pilgrims, with free transportation between Jerusalem and nearby Bethlehem-- where Archbishop Fouad Twal, the Latin-rite Patriarch of Jerusalem, will lead a procession through the town and preside at the traditional midnight Mass in Manger Square on Christmas Eve.
