Prelate: calm returns to Tripoli
September 16, 2011
Returning to Tripoli after a trip to Italy for medical treatment, the apostolic vicar of Tripoli reported an atmosphere of calm.
“Libya has changed,” says Bishop Giovanni Martinelli. Emphasizing that he could speak only about conditions in Tripoli, he said that “my first impression is positive: there is an atmosphere of tranquility and peace.”
Bishop Martinelli had been a persistent critic of the military campaign to oust the Qaddafi regime.
