Maronite Patriarch chides Lebanese politicians for impasse

Maronite Catholic Patriarch Beshara Rai has scolded Lebanese political leaders for their failure to resolve a 4-month deadlock in the formation of a national-unity government.
The Maronite prelate spoke at a meeting of Christian politicians, held to ease tensions between the leaders of rival factions. Talks on the formation of a government have stalled over demands that the Hezbollah movement should disarm before it is granted cabinet posts.
“All of us, Muslim and Christian Lebanese, are looking forward to building a country that we inherited from our grandfathers,” Patriarch Rai said.
