Australian book backs evidence of Shroud's authenticity September 01, 2006

A Sydney researcher has found that the best evidence confirms that the Shroud of Turin dates back to the time of Christ, the Australian Catholic Weekly reports.

In his book The Shroud Story<, Brendan Whiting refutes claims that carbon-dating of the Shroud traced the cloth to the 14th century. The carbon-dating tests, made public in 1988, were done on patches added later to the Shroud, he observes; more recent tests confirm that the cloth is much older.

Whiting points out that while the carbon-dating tests were given wide publicity by skeptics, more recent and more numerous studies confirming the age of the Shroud have been generally overlooked by the secular media.
