Catholic Recipe: Stuffed Shredded Wheat
INGREDIENTS
- 12 shredded wheat biscuits
- 2 cups sifted powdered sugar
- 1 1/2 pounds walnut meats
- 1 teaspoon orange flower water
- butter
- cold milk as required

- 2 cups sugar
- 2 cups water

This is an easily made Americanized version of an old Syrian sweet.
DIRECTIONS
Dip the shredded wheat in the milk, being careful not to let it get soft. Drain on paper towel. Grind the walnuts, mixing with sugar and orange flower water. Open the shredded wheat and stuff with the nut and sugar mixture.
Arrange the biscuits in a shallow buttered baking pan, dotting each one with butter. When browned, remove from oven and pour over biscuits a thick syrup made by boiling together for 5 minutes 2 cups sugar and 2 cups water.
