Washington, D.C. — "We will not put up with condom pushers lying to and deceiving kids," said Bryan Kemper, director of Rock for Life, a division of the American Life League. "Condoms do not protect you against the HIV or HPV. Handing out condoms to kids is endorsing promiscuous sex. That's irresponsible, immoral, and an outrage."

During the opening week of the Salt Lake City Winter Olympics, Kemper confronted volunteers in American Red Cross uniforms who were handing out condoms to youth under the age of 18 — some as young as 12.

The American Red Cross and Planned Parenthood were major contributors to SafeGames2002, which describes itself as a "consortium of... organizations working together to ensure that Olympic participants and visitors celebrate safely." SafeGames2002 reportedly handed out a total of 500,000 condoms at the Winter Olympics.

At one point, Kemper said a 14-year-old girl questioned Salt Lake City Mayor Ross Anderson about his endorsement of condom pushers in his city. After hearing her explanation that the condom is ineffective at halting the transmission of HPV and chlamydia, the mayor refused to comment.

"Attempting to destroy a child's innocence with condom handouts cannot be tolerated," said Kemper. "I am so honored to have witnessed young people confronting the mayor and the American Red Cross condom pushers. Abortion survivors have declared to Salt Lake City and to the international community, 'You will not silence my message'."
