WORLD MIND

A pantheistic theory espoused in Vedanta and Buddhist idealism and later by certain Moslem pantheists against whom St. Thomas Aquinas defended the individuality of each human being's own intellect and personally responsible will. Although variously described, the World Mind philosophy postulates only one spiritual substance in the universe, also called the Absolute. Accordingly, what appears to be a real distinction between God and creation is an illusion. Hence also the name, Non-Dualistic Illusionism, by which the theory of a World Mind is sometimes called.
