ST. ANDREW'S CROSS
Emblem assigned since the fourteenth century representing this Apostle. It resembles the letter X, Greek letter chi, with bars of equal length in a slanting position, sometimes called the saltire or tranverse cross or crux decussata. It was the cross used in St. Andrew's crucifixion.
