GOOD THIEF

Traditionally said to be Dismas, one of the robbers crucified with Christ. He rebuked his companion for demanding that Christ should save them, prayed for a share in his Kingdom, and was assured of salvation. A portion of the cross on which he died is venerated in the Chapel of Relics in the Church of Santa Croce in Gerusalemme, in Rome. The Good Thief is the patron of persons condemned to death.
