CHLOE

A woman in Corinth whose "people" (servants or slaves) warned Paul of a growing spirit of divisiveness among Christians. Their loyalty to the faith was becoming subordinated to their devotion to individual leaders, e.g., Paul, Apollos, Cephas. Heading this warning, he began his ministry in Corinth with a fervent plea for unity. Little is known about Chloe herself (I Corinthians 1:11).
