CASTI CONNUBII

An encyclical letter of Pope Pius XI on Christian marriage, published in 1930. Its clear, outspoken teaching on marital indissolubility and on the evil of contraception makes it a landmark in the Church's doctrine on the sanctity of matrimony. The Second Vatican Council built on this document in its treatment of Christian marriage in the Constitution on the Church in the Modern World.
