A papal palace begun by Pope Urban VIII in the seventeenth century. It is situated in the town of the same name about fourteen miles southeast of Rome, and is used as a summer residence by the popes. By the Law of Guarantees it has, together with the Vatican and Lateran Palace, the right of extraterritoriality, which means that it is exempt from visitation and inspection by the Italian Government.
