BLUE

A color no longer considered liturgical but used in certain religious services at certain times. It indicates constancy, fidelity, genuineness, and aspiration. It is the color specially associated with the Blessed Virgin. A special papal indult allowed some dioceses to use blue vestments instead of white on the feast of the Immaculate Conception. Mexico and Lourdes in France enjoy this privilege. Many white vestments today are ornamented in blue for use on feast days of Our Lady.
