ADAMITES

A Christian sect in the early Church whose adherents sought to return to man's primitive innocence by the practice of nudity. Opposed by St. Epiphanius (c. 310-403) and St. Augustine (354-430), [they] also advocated community of wives and sexual promiscuity. More recently, groups like the Waldenses also called themselves Adamites and held similar views.
