Or, as they say in the viral epidemiology business:

"Better put some ice on that."

Well, I don't agree, and I'd rather have my children walk by an Islamic center with a mosque than by some of the other establishments that are just as close to Ground Zero (such as the two strip clubs). As for the rebuilding of the Orthodox church, here are some of the facts:

That would be true, Cathy, if the "Community Center" didn't include a mosque; and it is the mosque that is the centerpiece--everything else is flash to gild the lily.

You are comparing apples and oranges here. What the community board approved for Park51 is not a church, but a community center that will be open to anyone who wants to take out a membership. In place of a derelict pair of buildings, the community will be getting a new pool, gym, meeting spaces, etc. In purely secular terms, this represents an economic boost for lower Manhattan. I very much support the Orthodox church being rebuilt, by the way, but these are two unrelated issues.

I like all the comments, but since Muslims don't kill their babies, and believe they should have many children, they won't have to use a sword to become the dominant religion in this country. They will overwhelm all of those espousing "pro-choice." Also, I have a feeling that the good people of New York will take things into their own hands.

In this country we have equality of religion....only some religions are more equal than others. I agree with you, patriot6908. In this country, there is indeed only one official "Religion of Peace," which urges its followers to spread it "with the sword," but it is actually very peaceful!

The mosque and now this delay--a story that is so Orwellian I would expect the Orwell estate to sue for copyright infringement.

Maybe you can get the president to comment so things can speed along?

Maybe they'd have more luck if they changed their name to Greek Heterodox. "Orthodox" is a bad word to the leftists who run New York---and the country---today.

That's because there is only one official Religion of Peace and it's not the Greek Orthodox Church. Try again. Hint: Begins with an "I".
