There are many news stories about discontented bishops and cardinals at the Synod; as the dust settles, putting all of that in perspective should be interesting.

As Phil pointed out in City Gates, the most heated debates and complaints surround the question of Christian accommodation: The Synod's choice: change the marketing campaign or change the product?

But those bishops who confuse worldly accommodation with vibrant ministry were easily identifiable before the Synod, and they have generally met with rejection by the body as a whole. Most Synod fathers do seem to grasp the fateful paradox of Adapting Christianity.

In any case, the dominant perspective was captured succinctly in the intervention on October 10th by the President of the Polish Bishops' Conference, Archbishop Stanislaw Gadecki. (A few of the other top interventions are also included in our library.)...
