eNewsletter Subject: Church Issues: A Rising Dramatic Pitch

There are several problems in the Church just now that are slowly coming to a head. As the Vatileaks investigation continues, for example, Phil Lawler tries to put it in perspective: The second collection: Vatileaks and the arrogance of church bureaucrats.

Then there is the effort to reform the Leadership Conference of Catholic Religious. The Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith commented on progress (or lack thereof) in an interview with John Allen: CDF prefect gives blunt appraisal of talks with LCWR. And Phil seeks to put this into perspective, too: The question stated simply: Has the LCWR gone off the reservation?.

In addition, we have the ongoing drama of the effort to bring the Society of St. Pius X into full communion with the Church. The latest news suggests that we should expect further complications: SSPX foresees ‘new phase of discussions’ with Holy See.

Finally, the establishment of Anglican ordinariates is ongoing. The latest one is for Australia, established today: Holy See establishes Australian ordinariate for former Anglicans. This brings the number to three, including England and the United States....
