I don't got rhythm

By Diogenes ( articles ) | Oct 08, 2009

Warning: For immature audiences only

You probably should not watch this video if you have a sensitive stomach. Send the children away; they might get nightmares.

But if you're brave enough to watch, you'll notice something immediately about the priests shown making a spectacle of themselves:

The Temptations they're not.

Notice the awkward movements: lunging and yet paradoxically restricted. Notice the intense self-consciousness, displayed in a variety of ways ranging from giggly enthusiasm to anomic isolation. Notice that the shrugs and spasms bear no discernible relation to the rhythm of the music. And don't play the quality of the audio recording, because they aren't in sync with each other, either.

When it comes to music and dance, these men don't have a clue what they're doing.

Which is OK, actually, because they're not professional entertainers (whatever they might think).

What's truly depressing-- and just as obvious from the video-- is that these men are equally clueless about the Catholic liturgy.
