Action Alert!

eerie indeed

Yes, Fr Mankowski: eerie indeed. Nothing could be clearer today than that our religious discourse has been thoroughly corrupted. The Holy Father arrives, hundreds of thousands swell the adulatory hordes, they even applaud his message -- yet we know how well his words are heeded.

I'm convinced most American Catholics can no longer understand the language of Catholicism. We've been thoroughly corrupted, the Faith subverted by values clarification, catechesis reduced to expressing our feelings and especially by worship which is merely celebrating our gatheredness as community. When the Holy Father stands in our midst exhorting us to keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, American Catholics immediately want to break up into small groups and discover Jesus in each other.

Orthodoxy can't be a concern if you have to discover the truth within you; salvation can't in a Church where every funeral is a canonization.
