The Deplorable Diocese of Dallas

By Fr. Wilson ( articles ) | Dec 04, 2003

This is an excerpt from a letter written by a layman to Deacon Bronson Havard, spokesman of the Bishop of Dallas. It is a letter following up a phone conversation of Wednesday. The layman had read my article on the plight of Father Paul Weinberger and phoned Deacon Havard to inquire as to why Fr Weinberger must be moved.

The excerpt speaks for itself:

There are very few priests in America today who have accomplished anything close to doing what Fr. Weinberger has done in Dallas. He was given a near impossible situation which he turned around and as a result his parish is a vibrant community of Catholics with a strong faith.

These results came about in part by the enormous dedication Fr. Paul has shown to his parishioners. I doubt there are any other priests in the Dallas Diocese, much less the whole of Texas, that say seventeen Masses per week and hear confessions for three hours daily, Monday through Friday. Their website www.blessedsacramentparish.net offers convincing proof that authentic Catholic teaching, as opposed to liturgical buffoonery and new age ecumenism, is the main focus.

To the extent you object to my characterization of Fr. Paul as a ' holy priest', I would say you have your opinion and I have mine. However, when you tell me that " I know several priests who did just as much busy work and they turned out to be pedophiles" , let me say you are out of line. For a Deacon like yourself , to indirectly connect Fr. Paul and the abomination of pedophilia in the same sentence, is a insult to Fr.Paul. You owe Fr. Paul an apology.
