The McCain-for-President campaign is linking Barack Obama to the community-action group ACORN.
So it's interesting that the Catholic Campaign for Human Development, the official anti-poverty effort of the US Catholic bishops, gave over $1 million to ACORN last year.
GOP strategists figure that if they can link Obama and ACORN, voters will realize that the Democratic candidate is a dangerous radical.
Sane Catholics figure that if they can link ACORN and the CCHD, prudent Catholics won't contribute to a drive which, in reality, does very little to alleviate poverty and quite a bit to support radical activists.
