GREATER LITANIES
A procession on the feast of St. mark (April 25) during which it has been customary to sing the Litany of the Saints. The procession and litany go back to St. Gregory the Great (d. 604), when they were introduced as a Christian replacement for the pagan Robigalia celebrated on that day.
