EYE
A symbol of the omniscience of God. "The eye of Yahweh is in every place beholding the good and the evil" (Proverbs 15:3). Established about the sixteenth century, it is often represented in a triangle, the "all seeing eye" serving as an admonition against sinning. Eyes on a plate have been used in illustrations of St. Lucy, probably because her name means light and she suffered greatly from eye disability.
