DOCTRINAL PLURALISM

The theory that in the Catholic Church it is permissible to hold objectively contrary positions on faith or morals. Implicit in the theory is the claim, more than once condemned by the Church, that doctrine is a subjective expression of belief on which some persons may agree, rather than the objective teaching of the Church's hierarchical authority, identifying or interpreting divine revelation.
