ARCA

A box in which the Eucharist was kept by the early Christians in their homes. It was also a chest for the safekeeping of church moneys, endowment funds for churches, schools, or other pious uses. The term is now used to describe the investments for some ecclesiastical purpose, e.g., arca seminarii, seminary fund. (Etym. Latin arca, chest, coffer.)
