Queen Elizabeth unhappy with Anglicanorum Coetibus?
February 01, 2010
After the release of Anglicanorum Coetibus last November, Queen Elizabeth II sent her Lord Chamberlain to speak with Archbishop Vincent Nichols of Westminster, to clarify the impact of the Pope's new policy, according to Damian Thompson of the Daily Telegraph. The Queen was reportedly concerned about the impact the apostolic constitution might have on the Church of England-- of which she is formally the head. A spokesman for Archbishop Nichols said that the conversation was "very successful." It is not clear whether the Queen's concerns were allayed. However, Thompson notes, it is noteworthy that the Queen sent her Lord Chamberlain, rather than the Archbishop of Canterbury, to consult with the Catholic prelate.

Perhaps she is proposing that the insulting blot on religious freedom in the UK -- the Act of Settlement of 1701 be repealed and allow the head of state and head of the Church of England to be Catholic in the future.

Did he suggest, a la Cromwell, that the usual suspects would be hanged, drawn and quartered?
