Leading Swiss bishop calls for married priesthood

The bishop who will assume the leadership of the nation’s episcopal conference next year is calling for the ordination of married men to the priesthood and says that most of the nation’s bishops support him. Bishop Norbert Brunner, 67, was ordained to the priesthood in 1968 and has led the southwestern Diocese of Sion since 1995.

The nation of 7.5 million has 3,327,000 Catholics and 204 seminarians.

    Moreover, it's sad to see a bishop publicly display such a lack of unity with and loyalty to the Church.
