Ireland’s leading paper heaps scorn on Pope John Paul

Three decades after Pope John Paul II made a three-day apostolic journey to Ireland, the nation’s leading newspaper has commemorated the event by quoting figures who heap score on the late Pontiff. “The signs of his harsh disposition were already apparent” in the “horribly homophobic” Pope, who listened to seminarians “with a contempt that chilled the heart,” according to those quoted in the article. Not a single person was quoted who had a positive word to say about the papal visit.
