Ugandan cardinal: remind youth that fornication, abortion are sins
October 08, 2014
Cardinal Emmanuel Wamala, the retired archbishop of Kampala, urged Ugandan parents to teach their children about the sinfulness of premarital sexual activity and called upon Ugandan youth to reject abortion.
“Whoever does it or helps a person to do it, puts herself or himself in a difficult situation with God because God is the creator of life and he alone has the right to take it away,” the prelate said at a recent Mass, according to a report from the Catholic Information Service for Africa.

Remarkable that a bishop saying this should be news.

While attending a Southern Baptist middles school I remember many a lively discussion with my non-Catholic brethren. My Baptist brothers used to cite Rom 6:23, "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." They denounced the concept of a visible church or an authority principle. I argued against their claims pointing to Rome. Little did I know in those days the consolation their bible verse would bring at a future, more tenuous time.
