Pope Francis: ‘Quebec must rise again’

July 08, 2013

Archbishop Gérald Lacroix of Quebec, the primate of Canada, has told a Canadian newspaper that when he met with Pope Francis on June 26, the Pontiff said that “Quebec must rise again.”

Archbishop Lacroix recounted that the Pope said, “Ah, Quebec! Land of missions, a land that has known many great missionaries!”

“He would like us Quebecers to find again our faith that gave us life and that built our country," Archbishop Lacroix said. "We have to find again our roots of faith, rise again as Christians and find once again the Gospel in our lives.”

“I met a father and a brother,” the prelate added.
