St. Monica an example to Christian parents, says Pope
August 31, 2009
In his Sunday Angelus address, delivered at Castel Gandolfo, Pope Benedict recalled the example of St. Monica and other saintly parents who helped lead their children to holiness. The Pontiff also noted that Pope John Paul II’s 1981 apostolic exhortation Familiaris consortio can help Christian families seek sanctity in our own time. After the Angelus, Pope Benedict drew attention to September 1, the “Day of Safeguarding Creation” in Italy, and urged industrialized nations to “cooperate responsibly for the future of the planet.”
