Mexican priest found slain-- 11th priest-victim in rash of killings

November 18, 2015

The body of a Mexican priest has been discovered on a country road in Nopalucan, in the state of Puebla, bringing the number of Mexican priests murdered since 2013 to 11.

The body of Father Erasmo Pliego de Jesus showed head wounds and burn marks, prosecutors say. An investigation of the killing is underway, but early suspicions have focused on drug-trafficking gangs that have targeted priests who opposed their activities.
