Bangladesh’s bishops launch anti-abuse campaign

July 14, 2015

The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Bangladesh has launched a campaign to educate clergy and laity on the abuse of children, UCA News reported.

“There have been allegations of child abuse by priests in Bangladesh as well but they were often covered up,” said Father Albert Rozario, secretary of the Episcopal Commission for Justice and Peace. “Now, we have a clear direction from the Vatican to prosecute anyone who abuses children.”

“No doubt many children are at risk of being abused at home, in schools, in workplaces and on the streets,” added Brother Cesar Henriquesz Levia of the Marist order, which is cosponsoring the campaign.
