Thomas ‘was able to touch the Paschal Mystery,’ says Pope
April 13, 2015
Pope Francis devoted his April 12 Regina Caeli address to St. Thomas’ encounter with the Risen Lord eight days after Easter.
In “the salvific contact with the wounds of the Risen Lord” the apostle perceived that the Lord, “sweet, tender, merciful,” was looking into the “depths of his being.”
“Inwardly transformed,” the apostle then exclaimed, “My Lord and my God!”
Following his reflections, the Pope referred to the upcoming extraordinary jubilee of mercy, offered Easter wishes to Eastern Christians who follow the Julian calendar, and greeted the Armenian faithful and others who were present in St. Peter’s Square.
