DIVINE TOUCHES

Spiritual sentiments, filled with consolation, that are immediately impressed on the will by a kind of divine contact and that are accompanied by a vivid illumination of the mind. Two forms of these touches are known in mystical literature. the ordinary type leaves an impression on the affective faculties along with mental enlightenment. The substantial type is so deep that they seem to occur within the very substance of the soul Actually even in this case, it is still only the faculties that are reached by the divine visitation, but the contact produces a most intimate spiritual experience.
