eNewsletter Subject: French Muslims Denounce Terror

As we recount in an important news story today, the top leaders of the Islamic community in France have denounced terror against Christians in the Middle East. Such denunciations have been rare or non-existent in the past.

Meanwhile, the pressures of Western secular states against Christians continue. One example is the continuing struggle in the United States against the HHS Mandate. See my latest On the Culture commentary: Insurance Coverage: A Litmus Test for Institutional Catholic Communities.

Another example would be recent challenges to the confidentiality of the Sacrament of Confession in various places. The most recent battle to preserve the seal of the Sacrament is being waged by the bishops of Louisiana. We have just added to our library their statement on the decision to appeal to the Supreme Court.

In such times, Catholic prelates must provide faithful leadership. So what about Cardinal Timothy Dolan's acquiescence in allowing gay pride marchers in New York's St. Patrick's Day Parade? In a letter to the US apostolic nuncio, Virginia Delegate Robert Marshall says this can only confuse Catholic politicians: Response to Cardinal on Gay Rights Group in St. Patrick’s Parade....
