USCCB welcomes Laudato Si’

June 19, 2015

The president of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops has issued a statement on behalf of his brother bishops welcoming Pope Francis’s second encyclical “with an open heart and with gratitude.”

“In this beautiful and extensive treatment on care for our common home, the Holy Father calls all people to consider our deep and intertwined relationships with God, our brothers and sisters, and the gifts that our Creator has provided for our stewardship,” said Archbishop Joseph Kurtz of Louisville.

Acknowledging that “genuine efforts to true dialogue will require sacrifice and the confronting of good faith disagreements,” the prelate concluded, “May we help answer Pope Francis’ call in this encyclical, receiving his message and growing in responsibility towards the common home that God has entrusted to us all.”

Ah, the USCCB which leads the libersl wing of the American Catholic Church follows President Obama's lead and praises the Holy Father's words on global warming. On the other hand, Rev. Robert A. Sirico, Acton Institute president and leader the capitalist wing of the American Church, warns that the encyclical and the Pope's coming address to Congress will surround the Pontiff's words with a political atmosphere. The American Catholic laity continue their confusion about their Church!
