Catholic Recipe: Hot Mulled Claret
Mulled wine is a traditional refreshment during the winter holidays, particularly Christmas and New Years.
DIRECTIONS
Combine sugar, water, and cranberry juice in large saucepan. Add lemon peel, allspice berries, and cloves. Stir over medium heat until sugar dissolves; bring to boil; boil 15 minutes. Add wine; heat, but do not boil. Strain. Serve hot in mugs, with clove-studded lemon slices and cinnamon stick stirrers. Makes 16 to 20 servings.
