JAPHETH

The third son of Noah, who with Shem and Ham survived the Deluge in the ark. From these three, according to Genesis, "the whole earth was peopled" (Genesis 9:18-19). Japheth was the father of Gomer, Magog, Javan, Tubal, and Meshech. Their descendants were largely Indo-European peoples who lived in the Black Sea region (Genesis 10:2-6).
